New arrival: Dark Star Brewery at The Anchor Tap
This month saw the arrival of Dark Star Brewing Co’s latest pub venture, The Anchor Tap, right in the heart of Horsham. The company from nearby Partridge Green started work on refurbishing the premises (formerly Cafe 1898) in November and kept to a much-welcomed February opening.
Craft, Cask and Keg
Situated on East Street, The Anchor Tap’s launch was a great success in the town on Saturday 13th February, as shoppers and beer lovers alike took some time out from the rain to enjoy their afternoon. In fact, it proved so popular that a one in one out policy was adopted at the door.
With a range of beer on offer, from London craft breweries to cask and keg versions of Dark Star favourites, it’s definitely one to try if you’re a beer drinker. If you’re more into wine and spirits, don’t be disheartened; there’s a huge range on offer just behind the bar so don’t be shy to pass up a pint!
Welcome addition
Inside, Dark Star have created a friendly atmosphere where you can just pop in for a quick tipple or stay for hours. After work drinks anyone? Check the extensive board for daily specials and if you get peckish, there’s also a sophisticated food menu of tapas style cheese boards and seafood.
The prices are also welcome; as The Anchor Tap serves up beer from Partridge Green, the prices are very competitive in Sussex and definitely beat some other central pubs. Mainly though, it’s the choice and variety that impresses, as well as the beautifully tiled floor.
If you’re looking for something new to try, you can ask for a taster before committing to a half or full pint. Try Beavertown’s Neck Oil for a light drink, or Dark Star’s very own APA for a crisp taste.
