Popular Vintage and French markets – 1st June

Did you know that Horsham has a long and wonderful history of market days dating back to the 13th century? True to tradition, on Sunday 1st June the town will again play host to two popular specialist markets, both to be held in the Carfax.  Set against the town centre’s Medieval architecture, this venue is the perfect site for the French market and vintage stalls, both open from 10am – 4pm.

The hugely popular French market will return, with its mouth watering offerings including;

  • tasty breadsHorsham fayre
  • wide selection of cheeses
  • stylish, authentic homeware

Alongside the French stalls will be the vintage market, with a wide range of unique jewellery, clothes and furniture.

To further enhance the vintage theme this year, Horsham is excited to be welcoming Sussex-based antiques expert, Vernon Ward.  Whilst Vernon has been running his roadshow for more than 30 years, this will be his first Horsham event. For a small donation to St Catherine’s Hospice, visitors can bring along their treasured items to be valued between 11am and 3pm.

Indulge your gardening passion – or take up a new hobby – 7th June.

On Saturday June 7th, the inaugural ‘Simply Gardening’ day will be held in The Forum.  This brand new event has been organised by Horsham in Bloom, an independent not-for-profit charity, whose aim is to encourage horticultural excellence, community participation and environmental responsibility within the boundaries of Horsham Town.  The organisation has an impressive reputation, including overall winner (gold award) of Britain in Bloom in 2007.

The day will be packed full of useful advice, handy tips and a number of concessions, where visitors can indulge their passion for plants. A panel of experts will be on hand to answer all your gardening questions, and will be chaired by local gardening guru Jean Griffin. Earlier in the year a competition was held to create a logo for the event, and the winning entrant, Ceri Fitzgerald, will be presented with her prize on the day. There really will be something for all, from the keen horticulturalist to the nervous novice.
