Christmas in Horsham
On November 16th, Horsham revealed its West Street refurbishments and turned on their festive lights. This has given the town a much needed uplift and created a marvellous Christmas feel. There are lots of different, exciting things to look forward to in the town during December and the New Year – here’s a taster of what’s coming up!
Shopping
Commencing November 28th, Horsham shops will have their doors open until 8pm every Thursday in the run-up to Christmas. This makes life easier for those of you who work late and don’t get much of an opportunity to do your Christmas shopping. As an added bonus, Horsham District Council is making parking free from 4pm on each of the late night shopping Thursdays, with parking continuing to be free on Sundays.
Markets
‘Best of British’ Christmas markets will be held in the Carfax from Sunday 1st and will continue every Sunday until December 22nd. They will be selling mulled wine, mince pies and an abundance of fabulous British gifts and crafts. There will be a great range of unique Christmas presents that you won’t find anywhere else like jewellery, British designer homeware, antiques, vintage treats and lots more!
Events
Have a break from all the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and enjoy a superb range of festive, classical and popular music on the Carfax Bandstand – every Saturday in December until Christmas. There will also be carol singing and fireworks on the Forum (outside Beales) on Saturday, December 14th. This is always a very popular event for all the family.
Pantomime
The Capitol Theatre opens its doors every year to avid pantomime lovers. This is an unforgettable, fun-fuelled experience that everyone from little ones to grandparents will love. The Dear Santa pantomime was such a success in 2012 that they’ve decided to bring it back this year. From the author of ‘Dear Zoo’, Rod Campbell has created this festive tale for younger children and their families. The show is running from December 7th until December 24th. Peter Pan is also showing at The Capitol. This is undoubtedly one of the most famous and best loved stories for children. Take a trip to Never Never Land between December 13th until January 5th.
You’d be crackers not to visit Horsham this Christmas!
